Getting started

What is LumaCare?

LumaCare is an app where a family and everyone who helps share the care of one person: the daily log, the medicine, the calendar, the helpers' shifts and the paperwork. Everyone sees the same thing, as it happens.

Who is LumaCare for?

For families caring for a child with special needs, an adult who needs support or an ageing parent - and for the grandparents, helpers and respite carers around them. Care organisations can use it for several families.

Do I have to set everything up at once?

No. Begin with one thing - the medicine or the daily log - and add the rest when you have the energy.

Can we bring the records we already keep?

Yes. Upload the spreadsheet you keep today - an Excel or CSV file, or an export from another system. LumaCare suggests how it fits your event types and shows a preview before anything is saved.

Can we start for free?

Yes. The Starter plan is free, needs no credit card, and includes one care recipient, up to three caregivers, the shared log, calendar, chat and medication list.

Does LumaCare give medical advice?

No. LumaCare helps you keep track and share - it doesn't diagnose, treat or replace advice from a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

Plans & billing

Can I try the paid features first?

Yes! Every new family starts with a 14-day Premium trial, no matter which plan you choose. If you choose Family or Premium, we collect billing details during setup, but you're not charged until the trial ends - cancel before then and you pay nothing. Starter stays card-free.

What happens when my trial ends?

When the Premium trial ends, you move to the plan you selected when signing up. If you chose Starter, you'll drop to Starter. If you chose Family or Premium and completed billing setup, you'll continue on that paid plan automatically.

What's the difference between Family and Premium?

Family gives you full coordination tools: medication reminders and dose log, custom events, full scheduling, recurring appointments, expense tracking, care reports, and 1 photo memory per day. Premium adds all AI features - voice logging, Ask AI, receipt scanning, handover summaries, daily summaries, AI care report summaries and the care guide builder. It also adds unlimited caregivers, two-way calendar sync, expense exports, unlimited photo and audio memories, and short video memories.

Can I change plans later?

Absolutely. Upgrade, downgrade or cancel any time from Subscription in the app. Plan changes apply right away; if you cancel, you keep your plan until the end of the period you've paid for.

Does every family member pay separately?

No. The subscription covers the entire care team - parents, helpers and any other caregivers you invite use LumaCare at no extra cost: up to 3 people including you on Starter, 10 on Family and unlimited on Premium.

What counts as a "care recipient"?

A care recipient is any person your family coordinates care for - a child, an elderly parent, or anyone else who needs support. The Starter plan includes one; Family and Premium allow unlimited.

What happens to our data if we cancel?

Your data stays in your account when a subscription ends; you just lose access to the paid features. You can upgrade again later, or delete the account and its data when you no longer need it.

Can we use LumaCare for an organisation or care agency?

Yes. We offer dedicated plans with multi-family management, cross-family scheduling and central admin tools. Write to info@lumacare.dk to hear more.

Care circle & access

Can the whole family and our helpers use it together?

Yes. Invite siblings, grandparents, neighbours or a paid helper. Each person signs in with their own login and only sees what their role allows. Everyone is covered by the family's plan: up to 3 people on the free Starter plan, 10 on Family and unlimited on Premium.

Do caregivers need their own account?

Yes, each caregiver signs in with their own login (Google, Apple, etc.). They're invited by the family and only see what their permissions allow.

How do we invite a helper?

From the family settings, invite them by email. They create their own login, and you choose what they can see and do. Helpers only receive notifications while they are on shift.

Can the person I care for use LumaCare themselves?

LumaCare is built for the people around them. You create their care profile, and the person you care for does not need an account or a login. If they want to follow the timeline themselves, you can invite them as a family member with view-only access.

Which sign-in methods do you support?

You can sign in with Google or Facebook, or with an email address and a one-time code. Apple and Microsoft sign-in are on the way.

Care, medication & records

Does LumaCare manage medication reminders?

Yes. Set each medication and its schedule once. Carers get a reminder when a dose is due, confirm it with a tap, and everyone sees what was given and by whom. As-needed medicine can have a daily maximum and minimum interval.

What happens if a dose is missed?

If a scheduled dose isn't recorded within the grace window, LumaCare marks it as missed and alerts the family member you chose. Corrections create a new entry, so the history stays intact.

Can we import the medication list from sundhed.dk?

Not automatically today. Automatic import from the Fælles Medicinkort is not available yet. You can add medications manually, or upload a spreadsheet or an export from another system and review the preview before anything is saved.

Can we log seizures, falls and other events?

Yes. You design the event types your family needs - with text, numbers, dropdowns, photos and more - and log them in seconds. Every carer sees the same timeline.

Can we share records with the doctor or kommune?

Yes. Choose a period and what the appointment is about, and LumaCare builds a PDF care report from what you have logged - events, measurements, medication and notes. It is clearly marked as caregiver-reported information.

Can we turn off AI?

Yes. A parent can turn off AI for the whole family in Family settings. Then nothing about the family is sent to an AI service, and every AI feature is switched off for everyone in the family.

Data, privacy & security

Is my loved one's data safe?

LumaCare is built with privacy by design. All data is encrypted, stored in EU data centres, and fully GDPR compliant - including Article 9 protections for health data.

Can we export our data or delete it?

Yes. You can download care reports, expense exports and memory exports from the app, and you can delete your account from Settings - the app shows exactly what will be removed first. For a full copy of the data before you delete, write to us and we will help.

Is LumaCare a medical device?

No. LumaCare is a coordination and documentation tool. It does not diagnose, treat or replace advice from a doctor, nurse or pharmacist.

Does it work on my phone and my computer?
